Notes on the use of the mail system related to the transition to ECCS2016
(February 23 2016, 11:00am) Some work which we were planning has been delayed.
Out of the faculty members who have a common Administrative System Account, and if you have changed the password after December 1 2015, ECCS password is going to be the password of common Administrative System Account after 13:30, February 23 2016.
We are deeply sorry for any trouble and inconvenience that we have caused to every users.
ECCS2016 including the use of terminals, etc. will start operation from March, 2016. At the same time, upgrade for the ECCS2016 email system is scheduled during August, 2016, until then the ECCS2012 email system can be used continuously.
However, there are some work affecting to the ECCS2012 email system during February 2016. Also the situation for using the email system after 2016 academic year has some differences between academic and administrative staff and students. Please read the following announcement carefully for more information.
Both Academic and Administrative Staff and Students
- Email address (username@mail.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp) for ECCS2012 and username when using the ECCS2012 email system will not be changed after March 2016.
- However, the ECCS2012 email system for students will be available until August 2016.
- On Tuesday, February 23, 10 am, the change-over of the server used as user authentication for the ECCS2012 email system, etc. will be conducted. Please note that the ECCS email server will be unstable for about an hour, however an incoming email will not be affected during this work.
- From Thursday, February 26, 11 am, the email system will be unstable due to the change-over of network
- The ECCS Cloud Email will start operation from April 1, 2016. This service is availalbe for both academic and administrative staff, and students who have the ECCS account. Please read the announcement Infomration on ECCS Cloud Email.
- Email address for the ECCS Cloud Email is xxx@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp,and the local part (the part before @ symbol) can be selected by the user.
Academic and Administrative Staff Who Have the Common Administrative System Account
- As we announced in "Integration of ECCS Staff Account into UTokyo Account, an ECCS account will be integrated with the UTokyo Account with the start of ECCS2016. However, a username when using the email system is the username of ECCS2012 staff account.
- Password after the transition is as follows:
- (1) If you change the password for Common Administrative System Account after December 2015
=> Login with the password for Common Administrative Account
- (2) If you do not change the password for Common Administrative System Account
=> Login with the password for ECCS2012
However, once you change the password for Common Administrative System Account, this password will become the ECCS password.
- New password policy for Common Administrative System Account has been implemented since January 25, 2016. Please check "Change password of common administrative system account" (ut-portal.u-tokyo.ac.jp)(accessible only on campus) for more details.
- Mail boxes and various basic settings will be transferred by ITC when the current email system is changed over to the new one in August, 2016.
Academic and Administrative Staff Who Do Not Have the Common Administrative System Account
- Username and password will be the same as for ECCS2012.
- Mail boxes and various basic settings will be transferred by ITC when the current email system is changed over to the new one in August, 2016.
Students
- ECCS2012 email address (common ID@mail.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp) can be used until changing over to the ECCS2016 email system (scheduled in August, 2016).
- Please use ECCS Cloud Email as possible as you can after April, 2016.
- Please note that ITC does not transfer your data. Make sure to transfer your data such as mail boxes in the ECCS2012 email system to the ECCS Cloud Email or other storage devices, etc. on your own before changing over to the ECCS2016 email system scheduled in August, 2016.
