Using Google Group

It has been possible to use the Google Group with your ECCS Cloud Email account since September, 2016 and as such the following activities are now available.

• Attending Google Group that was already open to the public
• Creating Google Group that will be opened to the public

It has also become possible for non-ECCS Cloud Email users to attend groups for ECCS Cloud Email users.

Difference between "Group (General)" and "Group (ECCS Cloud Email)"

Google Group is one of the services offered by Google. If you have an ECCS Cloud Email account, you can use both the regular groups (Google (general)) and groups for ECCS Cloud Email users (Group (ECCS Cloud Email)). The main functions are the same, but there are some functions that are different.

Group (general)

• This service is a general service offered by Google for those who have a Google account.
• Website: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!overview

• The domain name of the group email addresses: @googlegroups.com.
• The administrator for the group is the creator of the group.
• ITC basically takes no responsibility for the operations of any of the groups nor can our system be involved with the group operation.

Group (ECCS Cloud Email)

• ITC has modified a section of the settings for the services offered by Google to organizations using Google Apps for Education on behalf of ECCS Could Email users.
• Website: https://groups.google.com/a/g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/

• The domain name of the group email address: @g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp.
• The administrator for the group is the creator of the group.
• ITC basically takes no responsibility for the operations of any of the groups nor can our system be involved with the group operation. However, if any legal problems or issues on information ethics are found, we may delete the group.
• The attendance to or administration of the groups are initially limited to ECCS Cloud Email users, but it is possible for the administrator to change the settings.
• ITC may change the settings depending on the conditions of use.

Important Notice for Using Google Group

• Please refer to Google Group Help for information on how to use Google Groups.
• When you create groups specifically for ECCS Cloud Email users, please make sure you use "Group (ECCS Cloud Email)".
• Please make sure no unauthorized users have access to the groups due to incorrect settings.
