Email Server Country Authentication Restriction System Failure [Solved]
System Status
Updated: May 18, 2017
May 18, 2017
The email system used for the ECCS Staff Email and MailHosting service operates a “Country Authentication Restriction” system for usage through email clients. Most users have their systems set to only permit access from within Japan.
- 4:00 on May 18
The Country Authentication Restriction system developed a fault. It was reported that the email system was regarding some access attempts by the mail clients that were from within Japan (including from within the university) as attempts from other countries and rejected them.
9:00 on May 18
We temporarily suspended the Country Authentication Restriction to temporarily restore the sending and receiving of emails using mailers.
- 14:25 on May 18
The failure of the email system has been fully resolved and the Country Authentication Restriction is back up, so the Country Authentication Restriction for when receiving/sending emails using mailers can be set. If you had set your email to “Allow all countries” as a temporary solution during the system failure, please set it back to the previous setting.
We apologize to all users for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
