Chromebox Terminal

Chromebox terminals have been installed in the Study Room on the 1st floor of the Information Education Building on the Komaba campus, the Study Room on the 1st floor of the Information Technology Center on the Asano campus, General Library, Komaba Library, and Kashiwa Library.
Please refer to the Availability and Bookings (available only in Japanese) for the latest installed locations and number of terminals.

How to Use

Things to do in advance

A valid ECCS Cloud Email account is required to be able to use the Chromebox terminal. For those who have never started using the ECCS Cloud Email, please follow the instructions in "How to use ECCS Cloud Email" to enable its use.

Powering up

When using the Chromebox, make sure the 27-inch display is powered on, and then turn on the Chromebox itself. The Chromebox is mounted on the back of the 27-inch display, and push the button to switch on.

Once you have pressed the power button, after a while, the Chromebook will automatically connect to the internet, and the login screen will appear.

Login

Enter your ECCS Cloud Email username (the part before the @ of g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp), then click "Next". You will be directed to the UTokyo Account authentication screen. Follow the instructions on the screen to log in with your UTokyo Account.

How to use

Applications implemented as extensions of Google Chrome are available. File: Files used in the Google Drive compatible with ECCS Cloud Email accounts are available. Applications such as OneDrive can also be used on the web browser. Email: Gmail is available Secure Shell: You can connect to the ssh server (ssh0 {1.2.3}) for the ECCS using the ssh client so long as you have the private key created in advance uploaded on Google Drive.

Shutting down

To shut down and log out, click on the time displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen to appear the power button. Once the power button appears, click on it to open a new window. Inside this window, select "Shut Down".
